We bought our van in April 2024, and have been building on it continuously in weekends and the odd working day evening since then. Although we were progressing, we weren't progressing fast. And we wanted to leave in spring to able to enjoy most of the summer traveling. So in January I started working less, 4 days a week instead if 4.5, to allocate more time for building. And Federica's PHD was ending, 'all' that was left to do was responding to feedback on her thesis. Come March I stopped working entirely already, setting aside a full month of building thinking we would leave by April 1st. Now we were starting to get somewhere, however, April 1st still didn't seem feasible. So we postponed, setting the departure date on April 18th instead.
And here we are! The van is complete (except some curtains and little details), packed with our necessities and the rest of our stuff has been jammed into a 15m3 storage unit. We're now on our way to my parents, where we'll enlist my mom to help us do the upholstery.
